  • For the most part, the people who are participating in this Twilight renaissance (well, the ones that I’ve seen, and myself) are not uncritical of the series. We haven’t forgotten, or at least aren’t denying, that the Twilight books are racist, sexist, and downright creepy in places. What I’m seeing right now is less “let’s reevaluate this franchise as the forgotten masterpiece of our youth”, more “this was my trash when I was 14 and I’m no longer ashamed to admit that I still have a soft spot for it”. 

    We’re approaching the series as critical, thinking adults with a guilty pleasure. A guilty pleasure that, even though it’s problematic as fuck and deserves to be called out, is far from the worst thing in the world.
